PHIL is seeking a dedicated Prior Authorization Specialist to join our team, supporting pharmacy operations Monday through Friday. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring patients receive timely access to their medications while providing seamless support to prescribing offices. The position begins as a 4-month contract with the potential to transition to full-time employment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Verify patient insurance coverage using phone and online resources.
- Submit prior authorizations to insurance plans promptly via electronic portals.
- Troubleshoot prior authorization submissions and prescription processing with healthcare providers.
- Assist providers with the appeals process over the phone.
- Ensure all required medical documentation is accurate and complete before submission.
- Compile trends in authorization determinations for client and prescriber education.
- Document activities appropriately in process notes using company systems.
- Collaborate with Customer Support teams to ensure patient success and smooth workflow.
Requirements:
- Proven team player capable of solving problems independently.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to new systems and workflow changes.
- Experience with prior authorizations, medical insurance billing, or health insurance required.
- Working knowledge of ICD-10 codes and prescription drug names preferred but not required.
- Ability to navigate multiple systems throughout the workday.
- Flexibility to perform duties as workload demands.
- Customer service experience preferred.
- Access to reliable, high-speed internet for remote processing.
