We’re Hiring: Payroll Tax Specialist (Temporary)
US Acute Care Solutions is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Tax Specialist to join its HR Operations team on a temporary basis. This role will report directly to the VP of HR Operations and will focus on managing and coordinating all federal, state, and local payroll tax activities while supporting payroll specialists across the organization.
This is a remote, Monday through Friday position offered as a temporary 3–4 month assignment. Please note that this role does not include benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the preparation and review of federal, state, and local payroll tax returns in collaboration with the VP HR Operations and external tax service providers
- Conduct payroll tax research on various federal and state matters, including support during acquisitions
- Assist in the development and execution of payroll tax strategies aimed at minimizing federal and state tax exposure
- Support federal, state, and local tax audits and examinations
- Review, respond to, and resolve payroll tax notices from regulatory authorities
- Process payroll and related payroll functions as required
- Participate in special projects and ad-hoc assignments as needed
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong best-practice mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
- Solid technical knowledge of payroll taxation
- Proficiency in federal, state, and local income tax regulations
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently
Education & Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods with occasional standing, walking, bending, or lifting up to 15 pounds
- Must have close visual acuity for detailed work
Compensation:
The hourly rate will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, education, geographic location, and job-related requirements.
