Description:
Pixelogic Media is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to manage comprehensive payroll and related accounting functions for our US and UK operations. This is a remote role requiring candidates to be local to the Los Angeles area to attend special projects or meetings as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll, including entries, audits, and multiple post-payroll reports for US and UK employees.
  • Reconcile payroll against funding and general ledger accounts.
  • Handle employee status changes, make-up time forms, meal waivers, and parking stipends.
  • Manage deferral changes, 401(k) elections and loans, annual merit increases, and additional payrolls as required.
  • Assign Time Off policies and process garnishments, manual checks, and ACH payments for terminated employees.
  • Provide overtime reports to division heads and management.
  • Report union payroll costs to the Finance team (Entertainment Partners).
  • Set up wage accounts, state, and local tax jurisdictions in ADP; process local taxes not handled by ADP.
  • Manage 401(k) and HSA funding.
  • Process domestic and international vendor wires; liaise with A/P and Wells Fargo for payments, recalls, and amendments.
  • Report daily bank deposits and company credit card balances to Finance.
  • Reconcile monthly benefits billing (Aetna, Kaiser, MetLife) and labor reporting rates in pHelix/QuickBase.
  • Perform monthly vacation accrual reconciliations and support internal/external audits.
  • Manage cross-charge billing and review ADP invoices.
  • Generate multiple reports for Management, HR, and Finance as needed.
  • Maintain continuous communication with employees and supervisors regarding payroll inquiries, time off requests, and timecard adjustments.
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in MS Excel (formulas, V-lookups, PivotTables).
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
  • 3–5 years of payroll and general ledger accounting experience.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and employee labor laws, taxes, and relevant legislation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook; experience with ADP software preferred.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting a team-oriented environment.
