Griffin Resources is a boutique HR and recruitment consultancy that supports clients across industries with HR operations, payroll, benefits, training and talent acquisition. We’re growing and seeking a skilled payroll professional to provide long-term, client-dedicated support.

Role Overview:
As a part-time Payroll Specialist, you will act as the primary payroll resource for multiple client engagements. You’ll be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing, maintaining accurate payroll records, producing financial and payroll reports, and serving as a subject-matter expert for payroll administration throughout each assignment.

Payroll Responsibilities:
• Manage full-cycle payroll processing for client employees across pay periods.
• Enter and maintain payroll and administrative data in payroll systems.
• Calculate wages, benefits, taxes, deductions, commissions and other payroll elements.
• Prepare paychecks, direct deposits, and payroll-related cash transactions.
• Keep detailed, accurate payroll records and prepare income statements.
• Perform payroll reconciliations and account balances; prepare reports for accounting and audits.
• Respond to and resolve payroll-related employee and client inquiries.
• Maintain and update payroll information and oversee payroll workflow.
• Provide expert guidance to internal teams and act as an internal resource on payroll matters.
• Execute tasks with precision and strict attention to confidentiality and compliance.

Qualifications & Skills:
• Solid working knowledge of payroll practices and basic accounting principles.
• Experience with payroll and accounting software; advanced Excel skills preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with multi-state payroll, tax compliance, benefits deductions, year-end reporting, and relevant federal/state regulations (e.g., FLSA, FICA, ACA, garnishments).
• Strong communication, time-management, and organizational skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines, handle confidential information, and work independently.
• Leadership qualities, attention to detail, and problem-solving aptitude.
• Comfortable learning new systems and processes quickly.

Education & Experience Requirements:
• Minimum 3+ years processing payroll.
• 3+ years in HR generalist/manager or similar roles preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field preferred.
• Payroll certifications (CPP, FPC, CPS) are advantageous.
