About The Role:
RELQ TECHNOLOGIES is seeking a meticulous Payroll Specialist on a part-time, on-call basis to manage payroll compliance and administrative tasks across multiple U.S. states. This flexible position is ideal for someone with hands-on multi-state payroll experience who can independently handle tax registrations, withholding accounts, W-2 processing and other payroll-related compliance work as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Register new states for payroll tax purposes when business operations or employees require state coverage.
- Manage and update state withholding tax accounts to keep registrations current and accurate.
- Ensure compliance with applicable state payroll regulations and filing requirements.
- Prepare and process W-2 forms accurately and on schedule.
- Review and verify contractsfor payroll-related provisions and compliance implications.
- Support payroll-related audits or inquiries and coordinate with internal or external stakeholders when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar payroll/HR role within the USA.
- Strong understanding of multi-state payroll tax regulations and compliance obligations.
- Familiarity with W-2 processing and reportingrequirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting and manage priorities on short notice.
- Proficiency with payroll software and related tools; experience with specific systems is a plus.
Work Hours:
- Approximately 2–3 hours per assignment, provided on an as-needed basis (not a daily commitment).
- Flexible scheduling to meet deadlines and handle urgent payroll compliance tasks.
