Squire is currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to support client payroll operations. This role plays a vital part in delivering accurate, timely, and compliant payroll services while working closely with internal teams and clients. The successful candidate will contribute directly to client satisfaction by maintaining reliable payroll records and supporting broader accounting objectives.

About the Role:
As a Payroll Clerk, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate payroll processing for assigned clients. You will manage payroll data, resolve discrepancies, and support compliance with federal and state requirements while maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll for assigned clients, including hourly, salaried, commission, and bonus payments.
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records such as hours worked, deductions, benefits, and personal information.
  • Ensure accurate calculation and processing of payroll deductions, including taxes, benefits, and contributions.
  • Prepare and record federal and state payroll tax deposits.
  • Generate general ledger entries and assist with bank reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, including reissuing checks or direct deposits when required.
  • Collaborate with accounting teams to ensure payroll aligns with financial reporting standards.
  • Respond to client payroll inquiries with a high level of service and professionalism.
  • Perform additional payroll and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounting or bookkeeping; payroll experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with payroll software or the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work for extended periods using a computer in a professional environment.
