Description:
Dollar Tree Stores is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Associate to join our team in Chesapeake, VA. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for over 210,000 employees across multiple states. The Payroll Associate will work collaboratively within a fast-paced environment, adhering to strict deadlines while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.

In this role, you will be responsible for processing payroll, resolving discrepancies, managing employee inquiries, and assisting with various payroll-related projects. You will work with a team of payroll professionals to maintain smooth payroll operations and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
• Process payroll for 210,000+ employees including time adjustments, bonus payments, and off-cycle checks while validating accuracy using audit reports
• Review and edit Compass/Kronos time records and make necessary adjustments
• Calculate and process retroactive pay and paid outs accurately in compliance with state and federal regulations
• Update banking institution information and assist in banking-related tasks
• Verify benefit time accruals and ensure correct payments
• Respond to payroll inquiries from employees via phone and email (30-50 emails/day)
• Maintain payroll policies in compliance with state and federal regulations and ensure adherence to internal controls, including SOX compliance
• Provide support and training to new payroll associates
• Assist garnishment and tax specialty areas as needed
• Support Payroll Processing Manager and Director with special projects
• Demonstrate flexibility to learn new skills and platforms for process improvement projects
• Collaborate effectively with payroll team members and business partners
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills and Experience:
• Multi-state payroll processing experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong customer service orientation
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
• Solid organizational skills and attention to detail
• Knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word, email, and comfort using various software applications

Preferred Qualifications:
• Ability to accurately calculate hours worked for FLSA compliance
• Payroll certification (CPP or FPC)
• Experience with Workday payroll system
