Description:
Whatnot is seeking a detail-oriented and compliance-focused Payroll Analyst to manage and optimize end-to-end payroll operations for US employees. As a leading live shopping platform, Whatnot is building the future of commerce by connecting buyers and sellers through an innovative digital marketplace.
The successful candidate will be responsible for processing payroll, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, managing Workday Payroll operations, and supporting payroll reporting and audits. This role is ideal for professionals with strong payroll expertise, advanced Excel skills, and experience managing multi-state payroll environments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Process biweekly US payroll through Workday while ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
• Validate payroll earnings, deductions, taxes, and garnishments.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
• Manage multi-state payroll processing and tax allocations.
• Support internal and external payroll audits and prepare required documentation.
• Prepare and validate year-end payroll reporting, including W-2s.
• Troubleshoot payroll system issues and resolve discrepancies.
• Partner with HR and Benefits teams to maintain accurate payroll data integration.
• Develop and maintain payroll reports and calculated fields within Workday.
• Analyze payroll variances and prepare payroll-related reports.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and support payroll system enhancements.
Requirements:
• 5–7+ years of US payroll processing experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Workday Payroll.
• Strong experience managing multi-state payroll operations.
• Knowledge of US tax regulations and wage laws.
• Experience with payroll audits and reconciliations.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with ADP SmartCompliance.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong knowledge of:
