ABOUT THE ROLE – PAYMENT POSTING SPECIALIST
Swooped is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payment Posting Specialist to ensure accurate and timely posting of payments, adjustments, and denials to patient accounts. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of medical billing practices and payer systems, as well as the ability to handle high-volume payment posting efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately post payments, adjustments, and denials from Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and Electronic Remittance Advices (ERAs) into patient accounts.
- Retrieve remittance information from payer-specific portals and internal queues to maintain timely postings.
- Ensure daily transaction balances are accurate.
- Investigate and resolve ERA gaps by following up with payers or manually posting payments to maintain clean accounts receivable.
- Research and correct claims or posting errors that prevent proper reconciliation of accounts.
Required Qualifications:
- 2–3 years of experience in medical billing, payment posting, or similar RCM functions.
- Experience navigating major payer portals and extracting remittance data.
- Knowledge of credit balance resolution and refund processing.
- Proficiency with medical billing software and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Expert understanding of EOBs, ERAs, CPT, ICD-10 codes, and standard adjustment/denial codes.
- High-speed, accurate data entry skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for reconciling complex accounts.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities for high-volume processing.
- Adaptability to evolving business needs.
- Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
