We are seeking a remote Patient Financial Counselor who can guide patients through payment options and financial arrangements for their care. This role is ideal for someone who communicates clearly, handles sensitive conversations professionally, and understands the end-to-end revenue cycle from scheduling through collections. Candidates must be able to work the 8:00 AM–5:00 PM PT shift.

Your Impact

  • Promote Hanger’s values through every patient interaction.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and insurance payers by phone and fax.
  • Coordinate financial aspects of patient care with clinic teams.
  • Document and report payment activities accurately and promptly.
  • Verify insurance coverage and ensure accounts are prepared for timely billing with proper documentation.
  • Educate patients about payment plans, financial assistance options and out-of-pocket responsibilities.
  • Negotiate patient payment arrangements and collect payments by phone when required.
  • Review and process forms for patients and insurers; prepare documentation for third-party demands.
  • Support company procedures for financial screening, collections and account follow-up.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Typically requires less than 1 year of related experience; medical collections, high-volume medical office or call center background preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Comfortable handling difficult conversations and collecting payments over the phone.
  • Able to work the required 8:00 AM–5:00 PM PT schedule.

  • Understanding of state, federal and regional collection and reimbursement regulations.
  • Integrity, attention to detail, and a patient-centered mindset.

Pay Range
$17.75 to $21.00 per hour, plus an annual bonus of up to 5% of base pay (range posted to comply with wage transparency laws; final pay depends on skill, experience, geography and other factors).
