Job Summary:
Infosys Public Services is recruiting an experienced Operating Systems Specialist to provide day-to-day operational, deployment, and incident support across a large, distributed server, middleware, and database environment. You’ll act as a technical lead for incident response, routine maintenance, performance tuning and capacity planning while helping implement proactive operational procedures and documentation standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive incident response and change management through ServiceNow, publishing SLAs and following client change/case procedures.
  • Lead technical activities for distributed server, middleware, and database environments: fault isolation, remediation, and documentation of fixes.
  • Develop and maintain operational procedures for proactive detection, backups/restores, disaster recovery, and secure system operations.
  • Create and keep project plans and status reports, escalate critical issues and notify stakeholders about potential missed milestones.
  • Work with program/project managers, engineering teams and vendors to coordinate deployments, drive deliverables, and resolve complex hardware/software problems.
  • Manage inventory and deployment documentation for servers and maintain accurate configuration records.
  • Use systems management, security and alerting tools selected by management for vulnerability remediation and operational reporting.
  • Provide training, support and technical knowledge transfer to users and junior administrators; produce documentation and operational runbooks.
  • Follow quality assurance standards and contribute to continuous process improvements across the operations function.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience administering Unix, Linux and Windows servers in production environments.
  • Hands-on with web/application servers, containers, orchestration tools and messaging technologies.
  • Experience with automation and scripting (Ansible, shell scripting, PowerShell or similar).
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow or equivalent incident/case/change management systems.
  • Skilled in system management, backups, restores and security remediation processes and tools.
  • Comfortable producing and maintaining technical documentation, inventory records and performance data.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI for reporting and dashboards.
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills; able to lead technical incident response and coordinate cross-functional teams.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required (or equivalent work experience in lieu of each year of education). Candidates with a Master’s degree are strongly preferred.

Work Environment & Other:

  • This role involves extended time at a computer, and may require occasional travel per job needs. Communication via phone, email and face-to-face is expected.
  • Infosys Public Services is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity and inclusion across all hiring decisions.
