Description:

Aptive Resources is seeking a Medical Support Assistant to provide remote administrative support for VA medical facility operations. This role is ideal for candidates with healthcare administrative experience who are passionate about supporting veterans and improving patient care coordination.

The successful candidate will assist with appointment scheduling, patient communication, records management, and administrative healthcare processes while working remotely. Candidates must reside in Etowah County, Alabama, have reliable internet access, and be able to work scheduled shifts based on facility requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Schedule, cancel, and reschedule patient appointments according to VA scheduling guidelines.

• Answer incoming patient calls and route inquiries to the appropriate clinical staff.

• Verify and update patient demographic information and insurance details.

• Enter, maintain, and update accurate records within electronic health record systems.

• Coordinate with clinical teams to support patient flow and follow-up care.

• Assist with administrative tasks related to VA medical facility operations.

• Maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA-compliant procedures when handling patient information.

• Perform additional duties as outlined in contract requirements.

Requirements:

• Must reside in Etowah County, Alabama (verified during hiring process).

• Minimum 1 year of administrative or clerical experience in healthcare or a related field.

• Ability to work flexible Monday–Friday schedules, including 8:00 AM–5:00 PM or 10:00 AM–6:00 PM facility time zones.

• Reliable high-speed internet connection.

• Private HIPAA-compliant home workspace required.

• Ability to successfully pass a federal background check.

• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to manage administrative tasks accurately in a remote environment.
