Job Summary:
Behavioral Health Group (BHG) is hiring a detail-oriented Medical Records Clerk for a part-time, remote assignment that is expected to run at least six months with a strong chance to convert to full-time. BHG is a leading provider of opioid addiction treatment with 115+ locations and a mission-driven culture focused on patient recovery.
Summary Of Essential Job Functions:
- Manage third-party records requests and subpoenas promptly and accurately while protecting patient confidentiality.
- Retrieve and compile medical records from electronic health records (EHR) systems and coordinate access to paper charts with on-site treatment-center staff when needed.
- Submit requested records to external parties within required timeframes and follow departmental procedures.
- Work with the legal team to ensure subpoena responses meet all procedural and regulatory standards.
- Answer routine records inquiries and escalate complex issues to senior staff.
- Maintain a foundational understanding of applicable regulations, with a preference for candidates who have basic HIPAA knowledge.

Training:
- Complete required trainings assigned by your manager and participate in on-the-job training to build role competencies.
Regulatory & Compliance:

Minimum Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of medical records management and confidentiality rules (including HIPAA).
- Strong attention to detail and solid organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Capable of sustained sitting and computer work, with occasional bending or stretching.
- Able to communicate effectively by phone or in person and read computer screens and documents.
