Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the first in a series of four finance management roles at a multi-site, multi-specialty academic medical center
  • Ensure integrity of financial and statistical data, reviewing general ledger entries, reports, reconciliations, schedules, and other analyses
  • Develop and implement internal controls to maintain compliance
  • Provide leadership in team settings, supporting complex, high-visibility multidisciplinary projects
  • Participate in strategic direction setting for work teams or service lines
  • Communicate effectively to diverse audiences and present financial information clearly
  • Utilize reporting tools to interpret management financial information with institutional impact
  • Synthesize inputs from subject matter experts to formulate solutions and implement change
  • Coordinate development of programs and tools for financial reporting of complex activities
  • Interpret and implement accounting rules, fiscal policies, and regulations
  • Identify opportunities to increase financial margins while minimizing risk
  • Lead staff in preparation, review, and interpretation of variable-sensitive business models or compliance/fiscal management tools
  • Direct and coordinate analytical, financial, accounting, and compliance support for departmental and institutional leadership
  • Manage recruitment, development, and performance of team members while translating departmental vision into actionable results
  • Lead change initiatives and facilitate institutional workgroups or complex projects
  • Prioritize limited resources across multi-site teams to maximize efficiency
  • Handle ambiguous situations professionally and guide teams through them
  • Travel as needed for assignments

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of relevant accounting or finance experience
  • 5 years of management or leadership experience required
  • Master’s degree in business-related field or CPA (active or inactive) preferred
  • Expert knowledge of accounting and finance principles
  • Familiarity with institutional, clinical, financial, and administrative systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail, resource management skills, and professional skepticism
  • Customer-service orientation, anticipating and addressing needs promptly
  • Experience with large accounting or grant management systems
  • Ability to lead multiple complex projects in an ambiguous environment
  • Strong initiative, analytical skills, and productivity
