Description:
Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc. is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Logistics Planner II to join its Warehouse Planning Department. This is a fully remote opportunity for candidates based in specific U.S. states and involves supporting large-scale warehouse projects across North America. You’ll play a key role in the planning and execution of warehouse construction, expansion, and relocation initiatives, ensuring they align with corporate policies and strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct in-depth cost and space analysis in support of a five-year warehouse forecast
• Develop and utilize benchmarking tools to support decision-making and performance comparisons
• Collaborate with external consultants and internal teams to gather data and insights
• Create and manage project teams while supporting scope development, budgeting, and approval processes
• Lead project management meetings, establish standards, and maintain consistent communication with contractors and developers
• Deliver regular project status updates to executive stakeholders
• Prepare funding requests and present budget recommendations to approval committees
• Draft and review lease, RFQ, and process control documents to ensure policy compliance
• Deliver monthly presentations and materials for logistics planning meetings
• Review legal and construction documents, offering recommendations and feedback as needed
• Apply Kaizen and best practices to streamline processes and improve efficiency
• Visit potential warehouse sites and participate in on-site assessments during market surveys
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred
• At least 5 years of experience in warehouse or logistics management, ideally with construction project involvement
• Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills
• Familiarity with safety and compliance standards in logistics environments
• Certifications in logistics or construction management are advantageous
• Proficiency in tools like Microsoft Project, Visio, Excel, Smartsheets, and CAD or similar software
• Willingness and ability to travel periodically to warehouse sites across North America
