Description:

We are seeking an experienced Information Security Engineer II to help strengthen and operationalize our enterprise security posture. This role is responsible for designing and implementing security capabilities, supporting incident response and mitigation, and collaborating across IT and business teams to ensure systems and infrastructure align with the organization’s security strategy. The role reports directly to the SVP of Information Security.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities:

  • Work with senior security leadership to develop and mature a security program that addresses business risks and security requirements.
  • Design, deploy and tune security monitoring capabilities and analytic use cases to detect malicious or anomalous behavior.
  • Lead and facilitate incident and threat mitigation activities across teams; provide subject matter expertise during escalations.
  • Administer and maintain security systems and applications (network security appliances, host-based agents, policy/compliance tools) in line with policies and vendor guidance.
  • Build and refine detection rules, custom alerts, and automated workflows for faster response.
  • Investigate security incidents, produce postmortem analyses, and recommend/remediate gaps to reduce recurrence.
  • Review and remediate findings from penetration tests and vulnerability assessments; coordinate patching and mitigation efforts.
  • Monitor vendor and third-party vulnerability advisories and recommend timely fixes or compensating controls.
  • Train and mentor team members on tradecraft, security tools, and log/network analysis techniques.
  • Assist in governance and monitoring of firewalls, IDS/IPS, switches/routers, and other network perimeter technologies.
  • Contribute to threat-hunting, advanced malware detection capabilities, and data-loss prevention initiatives.

Organizational relationship:

  • This position reports to the SVP, Information Security and works closely with IT, engineering, operations, and business stakeholders to embed security across the enterprise.

Required knowledge, skills & attributes:

  • Deep knowledge of information security fundamentals: risk management, incident response, threat/vulnerability management, and identity/access control.
  • Strong understanding of networking, operating systems, and network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls, protocols).
  • Expertise in log management, aggregation, parsing, correlation, enrichment, and analysis.
  • Proficiency in netflow analysis, advanced malware detection, dynamic/static analysis tools, and cyber tradecraft.
  • Experience developing automated detection and response workflows.
  • Proven ability to research and adopt new security technologies and to maximize existing tool investments.
  • Ability to investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and communicate remediation plans.
  • Strong interpersonal and mentoring skills; able to influence peers and work with cross-functional teams.
  • Information security certifications and experience in banking/financial or defense environments are desirable.
  • Familiarity with data loss prevention technologies and network encryption/inspection concepts.
