Description:
Community Health Systems is seeking an experienced Hospital Controller to manage financial operations for its hospitals, clinics, and shared business operations. This fully remote role is critical for ensuring accurate month-end close processes, delivering timely financial reporting, and acting as a liaison between corporate leadership and local site financial teams. The Controller contributes to operational efficiency, strategic decision-making, and continuous improvement in financial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the month-end close accounting process to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness.
- Facilitate communication between corporate leadership, local site financial teams, and shared business operations to support alignment with organizational goals.
- Conduct monthly and quarterly operating reviews, perform variance analysis, and provide actionable insights to drive operational improvement.
- Assess and resolve financial issues between corporate and local sites, escalating to Regional Controller or Senior Director as needed.
- Deliver accurate financial information to support strategic decision-making and present data to hospital and corporate leadership.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, organizational policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including accounts payable and other finance departments, to resolve operational challenges.
- Perform other duties as assigned while complying with all policies and standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited college or university.
- 5–7 years of experience in Accounting or Finance with general accounting knowledge.
Preferences:
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration preferred.
- 2–4 years of multi-site hospital or healthcare system accounting experience preferred.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for building relationships across diverse teams.
- Proficiency in financial systems, accounting software, and Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with Alteryx preferred; proficiency in Google Suite applications a plus.
- Willingness to learn Oracle and leverage its training, reporting, and process tools.
