Description:
Rainforest Trust, a leading 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting endangered tropical habitats and species, is seeking a Grants Specialist to join our team remotely in the U.S. Since 1988, Rainforest Trust has safeguarded over 56 million acres worldwide by supporting Indigenous and local community-led conservation initiatives. This role reports to the Director of Institutional Giving and focuses on securing funding through grants while fostering strong relationships with donors, foundations, and board members.
Key Responsibilities:
• Build and maintain relationships with foundations, board members, and staff to secure revenue for Rainforest Trust
• Research, draft, and submit compelling grant applications, reports, and donor impact communications
• Assess potential funding opportunities and identify new revenue sources
• Represent Rainforest Trust professionally in verbal and written communications
• Coordinate with Finance to develop grant budgets and track spending, and with Conservation to provide project updates to donors
• Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate and timely completion of grant applications and reports
Qualifications and Skills:
• Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and research abilities; able to simplify complex topics for diverse audiences
• Strong technical skills, including proficiency in CRM, foundation research tools (Foundation Directory, Guidestar, Instrumentl), Microsoft Office, and G-Suite
• Experience interpreting foundation tax documents (990s) to inform fundraising strategy
• Excellent organization and project management skills, able to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
• Strategic thinking and effective relationship-building abilities
• Budget reporting and grant budgeting experience

Working Conditions:
