The Climate and Land Use Alliance (CLUA) is a collaboration of major foundations united by a shared vision to foster a climate-resilient and equitable world through sustainable land use and forest conservation. CLUA is currently seeking a Grants Manager (Temporary) to support its grants and contract processes throughout their full lifecycle. This role will report to the Senior Grants Manager and work collaboratively with colleagues across Program, Operations, and Accounting teams to ensure all grant and contract activities are compliant, organized, and aligned with CLUA’s mission and procedures.
This is a fully remote position, open to candidates located in time zones between UTC -8 and UTC -3. Flexibility is expected to accommodate international collaboration across the Americas, Europe, and Indonesia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee grant and contract management from proposal to closure, ensuring accurate documentation, review, and timely execution.
- Conduct due diligence and compliance checks on grant and contract materials, especially in relation to regional laws in Central and South America, Indonesia, and other target geographies.
- Review budgets, financial records, and supporting documentation during both pre-award and post-award phases.
- Monitor reporting deadlines and review grant modifications, payments, and reporting for compliance and accuracy.
- Work closely with the Senior Grants Manager and program staff to resolve compliance concerns and streamline processes.
- Provide backup support during periods of high volume and assist with other grantmaking tasks as needed.
Preferred Qualifications & Competencies:
- At least six years of experience in a grants management capacity within an international or philanthropic setting.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to write and review complex documentation such as agreements and proposals.
- Familiarity with U.S. lobbying laws and international compliance standards.
- Highly organized with excellent time and workflow management skills.
- Experience in financial document review and organizational budget analysis.
- Comfortable using relational databases or grants management platforms; experience with Fluxx is a plus.
- Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and a commitment to supporting a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrated alignment with CLUA’s mission and values, particularly in the area of social and climate justice.
