The GL Accounting Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the end-to-end general ledger function while leading a team responsible for accurate and timely financial reporting. This position is ideal for a proactive leader with deep accounting expertise, strong people-management skills, and a passion for improving processes and controls.

What You’ll Do

General Ledger Management

• Manage all general ledger activities to ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and on time.
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Ensure all accounting activities align with GAAP and applicable regulatory standards.

Financial Reporting

• Prepare and review internal and external financial reports for accuracy and completeness.
• Partner with FP&A and cross-functional teams to analyze performance trends and explain variances.
• Coordinate with external auditors by providing documentation and addressing audit-related inquiries.

Team Leadership

• Guide, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals in a collaborative environment.
• Delegate responsibilities, establish performance objectives, and conduct ongoing performance reviews.
• Identify skill gaps and support training and professional development initiatives.

Process Improvement

• Drive efficiency and accuracy by identifying opportunities to enhance GL accounting processes.
• Assess and recommend accounting systems or tools that improve workflow and reporting.
• Create and maintain clear standard operating procedures for GL-related functions.

Compliance & Controls

• Maintain strong internal controls to protect company assets and ensure data integrity.
• Monitor compliance with accounting policies and recommend updates as regulations evolve.
• Stay current on accounting standards and ensure ongoing organizational compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA strongly preferred.
• At least 7 years of accounting experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Extensive experience in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Hands-on knowledge of ERP systems such as NetSuite, Great Plains, Workday, and Concur.
• In-depth understanding of GAAP and other applicable accounting standards.
• Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
