Overview:


We are seeking a meticulous and organised General Ledger (GL) Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have solid hands-on experience in general accounting, a strong command of Excel for data analysis, and practical exposure to ERP systems. This role is central to ensuring accurate financial records, timely period-end closings, and reliable reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Support monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes, including preparing and posting journal entries.
  • Prepare and post accruals and amortization entries, and maintain a monthly checklist for accruals and amortizations.
  • Perform periodic reconciliations of GL ledgers and sub-ledgers and investigate variances.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, providing documentation and explanations as required.
  • Use advanced Excel functions to analyse financial data, prepare reports and support management decision-making.
  • Ensure correct posting of entries to respective departmental GL accounts and follow up on any discrepancies.
  • Manage timely payment and replenishment of utilities and government-related accounts.
  • Prepare accounting entries related to payroll and employee benefits and ensure correspondence accounts are recorded accurately.

Experience & Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a General Ledger Accountant.
  • Accounting certification (CMA / CPA) will be an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of accrual accounting, reconciliations and period-end close processes.
  • Experience with ERP platforms such as SAP or Oracle; knowledge of Infor M3 is a plus.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, complex formulas).
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial work.
  • Good communication skills in English; Arabic is an added advantage.
  • Candidates currently available for interview in the UAE are preferred.
