Role Summary:
The Fund Accounting Senior Associate plays a central role in preparing accounting, valuation and reporting for thousands of funds administered on the AngelList platform. You will handle complex, non-automated accounting tasks, resolve exceptions, support audits, and engage directly with GPs and LPs on valuation and accounting matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate portfolio company events and data, deciding the appropriate valuation and accounting treatment for investments.
- Prepare and support both audited and unaudited financial statements; liaise with external auditors to complete annual audits.
- Ensure investments are accounted for in accordance with GAAP and research/resolve special situations or complex accounting issues.
- Maintain and update the investment tracking system so records remain accurate and current.
- Review post-close actions to process valuation updates, and validate management and administrative fee calculations.
- Drive automation and process improvements in partnership with engineering and operations teams.
- Own specific team workflows and contribute to ad-hoc projects as they arise.
- Communicate professionally with portfolio companies, fund managers (GPs) and limited partners (LPs) on accounting and valuation matters.
What we’re looking for:
- 3–4+ years of operational excellence in fund administration, public accounting or related financial roles; CPA license strongly preferred.
- Deep attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve corner cases consistently.
- Strong organizational skills and a process-oriented mindset—able to manage large volumes of investments systematically.
- Hands-on attitude and willingness to perform detailed data work to ensure accuracy.
- Solid understanding of core financial concepts and a keen interest in venture finance, including legal, tax and accounting intersections.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to change and continuous improvement.
