Northwell Health is seeking a dedicated Financial Services Representative to work remotely, supporting patients with their financial responsibilities and assisting with self-payments. This role involves processing payments, maintaining accurate collection records, and counseling patients on their hospital financial obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interview patients to collect financial and insurance information.
- Verify insurance coverage and process additional insurance claims such as No Fault and Workers Compensation.
- Conduct financial assessments of patients and refer potential Medicaid cases to the Medicaid Investigator.
- Assist in gathering documentation and completing the Financial Assistance Program (FAU) applications.
- Guide patients and families in resolving hospital bills and advise them regarding payment responsibilities.
- Establish pro-rated financial obligations and set up payment arrangements or contracts.
- Follow up on scheduled payments via mail and telephone.
- Process Section 1011 applications where applicable.
- Maintain a daily work log of payments collected.
- Perform related duties as required, with all responsibilities considered essential under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Financial counseling experience.
- Knowledge of Medicaid programs.
- CAC Certification.
- Experience with point-of-service collections.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
