Description:
Mayo Clinic is seeking a dedicated Financial Counselor to provide exceptional financial support to patients throughout their treatment journey. This 100% remote role allows candidates to work from anywhere in the U.S. and contributes to Mayo Clinic’s mission of patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with financial clearance before, during, or after treatment
- Obtain and update insurance, financial, and demographic information within Epic systems
- Guide patients and families on options for covering financial obligations, including co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance
- Assist with Medicaid, Third Party eligibility, and Charity Care applications
- Establish payment plans and collect self-pay balances as necessary
- Resolve ad-hoc financial issues prior to, during, and post-treatment
- Adhere to quality assurance guidelines and productivity standards
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED and 2+ years relevant experience OR Bachelor’s degree
- Excellent reading, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer/keyboarding skills and intermediate math competency
- Knowledge of healthcare, insurance verification, ICD10, and self-pay collections preferred
- Experience with Epic RC/EMR systems preferred
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and handle complex situations professionally
- HFMA Certification preferred
Schedule & Benefits:
- Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM CST (hours based on business needs)
