We’re Hiring | Financial Analyst

The Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) is seeking a motivated and experienced Financial Analyst to join the Division of Child Support Services (DCSS). DES works with families, communities, advocates, and government partners to strengthen individuals, families, and communities for a better quality of life. This role supports business operations and administration by providing forecasting, financial analysis, federal reporting, and monitoring for assigned programs.

Key Responsibilities:


• Research and analyze expenditure and revenue trends
• Prepare forecasts and detailed financial reports
• Conduct ad-hoc analyses as required
• Develop fiscal and operational reports covering financial outlooks, spending trends, staffing, and other analyses
• Identify, research, and analyze impacts of proposed legislation or funding changes, preparing formal bill analyses
• Provide financial expertise to departmental leadership and external partners

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


• Governmental accounting and fiscal principles
• Budget and state legislative processes
• Business administration principles, including fiscal management and budgetary control
• Statistical analysis and reporting techniques
• Strong analytical, communication, and report writing skills

Required Skills:


• Analysis and interpretation of financial data
• Managing expenditure corrections, payment vouchers, and collections
• Oral and written communication proficiency
• Understanding chart of accounts and accounting processes

Ability To:


• Perform complex analytical work
• Monitor appropriations, revenues, and expenditures
• Prepare and review federal grant reports
• Develop annual budget requests for assigned programs
• Act as a single point of contact for assigned programs
• Use applicable software and learn DCSS programs to meet performance goals

Selective Preferences:


• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration with relevant specialization
