Description:
The American Institutes for Research (AIR) is seeking a skilled Financial Analyst to join our mission-driven team, supporting government contracting initiatives. In this role, you will provide in-depth financial analysis, reporting, and strategic insights that enhance contract performance and drive organizational success. You will collaborate across teams to maintain financial accuracy, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute to key financial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning, Analysis, and Reporting

  • Conduct comprehensive financial analysis to support government contracts, including budget preparation, forecasting, variance analysis, and modeling
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement strategic financial plans aligned with organizational goals
  • Provide actionable financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making and growth

Contract Cost Management

  • Monitor contract costs to ensure compliance with budgets and contractual requirements
  • Perform cost-benefit analyses and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements

Compliance and Audit Support

  • Ensure adherence to government regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation and addressing findings promptly

Contract Negotiation and Review

  • Support contract negotiations, reviewing financial terms to ensure favorable outcomes
  • Assess potential risks and develop mitigation strategies

Cross-Functional Partnership and Guidance

  • Work closely with project managers and contract administrators to provide financial expertise throughout the contract lifecycle
  • Foster collaboration and engagement to achieve organizational objectives

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of financial analysis experience in government contracting
  • Knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and cost accounting standards
  • Experience with financial management systems like Deltek or Microsoft Dynamics 365
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and analytical tools like Costpoint 8+, Cognos, Tableau, Power BI
  • Exceptional analytical, strategic problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and present financial information clearly to diverse audiences
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in reporting, forecasting, and compliance
