Description:

Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services is seeking a Finance Manager to oversee accounting and finance activities for universities in the New England region. This role will assist the Divisional Director of Finance with all regional financial operations, ensuring accuracy, internal controls, strategic planning, and financial analysis. Approximately 10% travel within the region is expected.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all accounting activity within the region is accurate and complete.
  • Maintain strict internal controls to protect company assets, including cash, inventory, and accounts receivable.
  • Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts, resolving discrepancies.
  • Analyze financial results and Key Performance Indicators for internal and external reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual financial terms and obligations.
  • Develop forecasts, budgets, and identify financial risks and opportunities.
  • Review general ledger activity weekly and prepare necessary corrections.
  • Participate in building proformas for new business and account retention.
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Train, mentor, and develop unit accounting and clerical staff; provide financial guidance to operational account managers.
  • Prepare and present financial summaries to internal and client leadership.
  • Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Expected travel of 10%.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong food service accounting experience.
  • Experience supporting operations and preparing financial models.
  • Proficiency in Excel for analytics, reporting, forecasting, and cash flow projections.
  • Ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to management and support staff.
  • Skilled in managing multiple priorities and relationships.
  • Experience with POS, cash, and credit card reporting.
  • Reside within 2–3 hours driving distance of main New England accounts.
  • High standard of personal integrity and ethical behavior.
