Description:

Chartwells Higher Ed is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Finance Manager to oversee financial operations for universities within the New England region. This remote role involves occasional travel (approximately 10%) to various campuses. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in accounting, financial analysis, and team leadership to support the broader mission of creating healthier dining experiences in educational settings.

This role plays a vital part in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and performance across supported schools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all financial and accounting functions within the assigned region, ensuring accuracy and adherence to internal controls
  • Safeguard company assets by monitoring cash flow, inventory, and accounts receivable
  • Reconcile and analyze key balance sheet accounts, identifying and resolving any discrepancies
  • Evaluate financial performance metrics (KPIs) and provide reporting for internal and client review
  • Interpret and enforce financial terms within client contracts to ensure compliance
  • Lead budget forecasting and identify financial risks and growth opportunities
  • Audit general ledger activity weekly and implement corrective measures as needed
  • Assist in preparing financial models for new contracts and renewals
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Mentor and support unit-level accounting personnel, offering guidance on financial matters
  • Present financial summaries to internal executives and client stakeholders
  • Support ad hoc projects and assignments as required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (strongly preferred)
  • Experience in food service accounting highly desired
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in accounting or financial management
  • Operational finance experience, particularly supporting non-corporate units
  • Strong Excel skills and the ability to create and interpret financial models
  • Proficiency with POS, credit card reconciliation, and financial software
  • Demonstrated communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and relationships across different teams
  • Must reside within 2–3 hours of the New England campuses
