Description:

Arts FMS | Financial Management Services is seeking a highly experienced and self-directed Finance Consultant with extensive nonprofit accounting expertise. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for a finance professional with a strong background in managing nonprofit financial operations, developing financial strategies, and leading finance teams.

The successful candidate will provide financial leadership, support organizational decision-making, and help implement effective financial systems. Professionals with experience in nonprofit accounting, GAAP compliance, financial reporting, and client service are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead financial strategy development and provide financial guidance to nonprofit organizations.

• Manage all aspects of financial operations, including accounting systems and transaction management.

• Oversee finance department activities and support effective financial processes.

• Prepare financial management reports and documentation for boards and staff.

• Review financial work to ensure accuracy and compliance.

• Train staff on complex financial concepts and best practices.

• Develop and implement organization-wide financial systems and procedures.

• Manage direct reports and drive projects to successful completion.

• Provide excellent client service while managing multiple priorities.

Requirements:

• 20+ years of nonprofit accounting experience, preferably within the arts sector.

• Extensive experience managing an organization’s accounting and financial operations.

• Proven experience leading a finance department.

• Experience creating financial strategies, reports, and management documents.

• Must have previous experience working directly within a finance department.

• Ability to manage 3–5 direct reports effectively.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting, reporting, and compliance.

• Expertise in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks Online.

• Exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Genuine interest in performing and/or visual arts.

Strong knowledge of:

    • Nonprofit accounting principles and financial compliance.

    • Financial reporting, budgeting, and strategic planning.

    • Accounting software, Excel, and QuickBooks Online.
