About the Role
In this fully remote position, you will work directly with the Head of Finance and collaborate closely with the Finance, RevOps, GTM, and Operations teams. As Lightyear’s first accounting hire, you will play a key role in building the company’s accounting foundation, shaping financial processes, and contributing directly to organizational growth. This role offers strong long-term potential, evolving into a strategic partnership with the Head of Finance as the company grows.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide ongoing assistance to the Head of Finance on specialized accounting tasks, detailed financial analysis, budget development, forecasting, and additional projects as needed.
• Manage the complete revenue recognition engine and coordinate with RevOps to ensure accurate booking and timely revenue reporting.
• Identify, recommend, and implement system improvements and automation opportunities.
• Examine financial data to prepare routine internal reports and support leadership decision-making.
• Assist with accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoice management, cash application, aging reviews, and internal/external correspondence.
• Conduct frequent account reconciliations across bank accounts, AP/AR, and balance sheet items while investigating variances and resolving issues.
• Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycles, ensuring accurate reporting for executive and board-level review.
• Assist in preparing all required state, federal, and sales tax filings.

Ideal Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA certification is a bonus.
• Minimum of 2 years in accounting roles, with preference for Big 4 experience or exposure to B2B SaaS environments.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced workplace.
• Excellent communication abilities, including explaining complex financial information to non-finance teams.
• Strong Excel proficiency and exceptional attention to detail.
• Familiarity with — or willingness to learn — SQL, QuickBooks, Ramp, Brex, Metabase, and other financial systems.
• Bonus consideration for candidates based in Salt Lake City, as the Hiring Manager operates from there.
