Description:
The Farmlink Project is actively hiring a Deal Flow Specialist to support our mission of fighting food waste and food insecurity across the United States. This remote role plays a vital part in coordinating the logistics that connect surplus food donations from producers with food banks and hunger-relief organizations. As a key member of the Food Program team, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth transportation, managing key partnerships, maintaining accurate data, and helping scale the impact of our food recovery initiatives.
Organizational Overview:
Each year, billions of pounds of food are wasted in the U.S., while millions of Americans struggle with hunger. The Farmlink Project exists to bridge that gap by connecting farms and food suppliers with surplus to communities in need. As a remote-first nonprofit with approximately 25 staff members, we are building the next generation of food system leaders and changemakers.
Work Schedule:
- This is a variable schedule position.
- Availability is required between 7 AM – 7 PM PST.
- Weekend and holiday coverage may occasionally be necessary.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary range: $73,000–$78,000 annually
- Includes a competitive benefits package
- Final compensation will be based on experience
Key Responsibilities:
Food Donation Coordination & Logistics (~70%)
- Manage the daily logistics of food donation pickups and deliveries
- Schedule and confirm transportation and delivery timelines with donors and recipient agencies
- Enter and maintain accurate donation records using Fusionware and other systems
- Provide prompt, flexible support to handle fluctuating daily and weekly food volumes
Partner & Donor Relationship Management (~20%)
- Build and nurture relationships with food donors to boost procurement
- Support sourcing and evaluating packaging and transport partners
- Regularly communicate with recipient agencies and vendors, maintaining detailed contact records
- Ensure all stakeholder data is current across internal systems
General Food Program Support (~10%)
- Track key metrics to optimize food recovery strategies and logistics efficiency
- Collaborate with leadership to expand and streamline the food recovery operation
- Document and share best practices to improve internal processes
- Assist with high-volume food recoveries or special projects when needed
Qualifications & Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in logistics, produce, food recovery, or related roles
- Freight dispatch and supply chain knowledge highly valued
- Nonprofit program experience or donor/partner development background is desirable
- Excellent organizational, data entry, and multitasking capabilities
- Strong time management and clear communication in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in digital tools such as Google Workspace; Fusionware experience is a plus
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote setup
- Must be adaptable to variable hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
