Description:

  • Job Summary:
    ATI Restoration is seeking a proactive Database Administrator to oversee and secure our database environments across cloud and on-premises systems. The role focuses on performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, access control, compliance with data security standards, and close collaboration with engineering and operations teams to maintain reliable, scalable data services.
  • Reports To: Senior Director of Enterprise Applications.
  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Database Management: Monitor and optimize database performance, install and upgrade database software, and perform routine maintenance such as indexing and statistics updates to preserve data integrity and speed.
    • Backup & Recovery: Design and operate robust backup and recovery procedures to minimize downtime and data loss.
    • Architecture & Scalability: Design secure and scalable database architectures for both cloud (AWS/Azure) and on-premise deployments, and plan capacity to support growth.
    • Troubleshooting & Performance Tuning: Diagnose and resolve bottlenecks related to queries, indexing, and server resources; lead root-cause analysis for production incidents.
    • Security & Compliance: Manage user accounts and permissions, implement encryption and audit logging, and ensure databases meet regulatory standards (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2) where applicable.
    • Collaboration: Work closely with DevOps, software engineers, and data architects to align database solutions with application infrastructure and CI/CD practices.
    • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations, schemas and procedures and produce regular reports on performance and security for stakeholders.
  • Required Skills And Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
    • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in database administration or engineering.
    • Strong competence in two or more DB platforms such as SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
    • Deep knowledge of SQL and procedural extensions (PL/pgSQL, T-SQL), schema design and normalization.
    • Experience deploying and supporting cloud or hybrid database infrastructures (AWS RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB, Azure equivalents).
    • Familiarity with database security best practices, audit logging, and encryption.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with excellent communication skills to explain technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Database – Specialty or equivalent Azure/GCP credentials.
    • Prior experience in regulated industries (healthcare, finance, manufacturing).
    • Exposure to DevOps tooling and CI/CD processes for database deployments.
    • Practical experience with ETL tools and data migration projects.
