As a Data Protection Specialist, you will join our Legal & Compliance team and report to the Associate General Counsel. You will assess and mitigate risks related to data protection, adapt operational processes to evolving data protection laws, provide guidance to colleagues on handling data, and continuously improve compliance processes across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support the Data Protection Team in day-to-day operations
• Collaborate with all teams to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance and enhance processes
• Draft, review, and maintain data protection policies and procedures
• Perform privacy assessments including impact assessments, legitimate interest assessments, and vendor assessments, improving processes where possible
• Identify and leverage technology to streamline compliance workflows
• Respond to internal and external data protection queries
• Assist with incident management processes and privacy risk mitigation
• Deliver training on data protection matters for all teams
• Support Remote’s data protection champions program
Requirements and Skills:
• Strong knowledge of EU GDPR and experience advising organizations on compliance
• Experience creating and managing data protection policies and procedures
• Skilled in managing Data Subject requests and incident management
• Ability to interpret legislation, provide practical guidance, and communicate complex issues clearly
• Proactive, self-starter with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience applying privacy by design and by default, conducting data protection impact assessments, and evaluating security incidents
• Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders, plan and prioritize tasks efficiently
• Open-minded, innovative, and comfortable using technology to improve efficiency
• Fluency in English, verbal and written
• Exposure to PIPEDA, CCPA, LGPD, PDPA, or other global data protection laws is a plus
• Remote work experience is advantageous but not required
