We are seeking a collaborative Data Engineer to join our small, focused engineering team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will serve as our founding Data Engineer, building the foundation for data-driven decision-making across our growing customer base.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build ETL pipelines and data infrastructure to support reporting and analytics, taking ownership of tasks previously handled by senior engineering leadership.
- Ensure data quality and reliability by implementing monitoring and governance practices for Finance, Sales, Customer Success, and Supply Partnership teams.
- Stabilize and enhance existing Postgres-based data pipelines that power billing and revenue reconciliation for the Finance team.
- Design and implement migration to a modern data warehouse architecture to improve analytics and self-service reporting.
- Contribute to the data strategy roadmap, identifying pain points and independently driving infrastructure improvements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders from Product to business users across the organization to understand requirements and deliver reliable data solutions.
- Establish data engineering best practices and documentation standards for future team growth.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering (quality of experience valued over quantity).
- Expert-level SQL skills with PostgreSQL, including database design, performance optimization, and handling large datasets.
- Experience building and maintaining high-throughput production data pipelines with strong focus on data quality.
- Delivery-focused and able to thrive in a dynamic startup environment with initiative and ownership.
- Ability to diagnose and fix complex data pipeline issues while planning for future infrastructure needs.
- Data evangelist who champions best practices, monitoring, testing, and proper documentation.
- Effective communicator in a fully remote environment with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Located in or between Pacific and Central Europe timezones; able to join meetings 10am–1pm ET.
- Comfortable making build vs. buy infrastructure decisions and vetting solutions.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Familiarity with Elixir or similar programming language
- Previous experience as the first data hire or building data functions from scratch
- Background in high-throughput systems or ad tech platforms
