Description:
E Source is seeking a highly skilled senior Data Engineer to join its machine-learning engineering team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure data pipelines, infrastructure, and systems to support both consulting services and SaaS solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams of machine-learning engineers, software engineers, data scientists, and analysts to deliver high-quality data products for clients and improve internal data engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines, infrastructure, and systems using AWS, Python, Databricks, Spark, and SQL databases such as PostgreSQL.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business problems into technical solutions.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior data engineers.
- Architect and optimize data pipelines for performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Assemble and process large, complex datasets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements.
- Implement process improvements including automation, optimized data delivery, and scalable infrastructure design.
- Monitor data quality and ensure production data availability for stakeholders.
- Develop data integration frameworks and data quality monitoring systems.
- Establish and implement best practices and strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Troubleshoot pipelines and systems to maintain data integrity, security, and availability.
- Stay current on industry trends and evaluate new data technologies and tools.
- Manage software development life cycle and DevOps practices including CI/CD.
- Work with data scientists and analysts to meet data requirements.
- Develop new data validation methods and analytical tools.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering or similar roles.
- Expert-level skills in Python, PostgreSQL, Databricks, Spark, and big data technologies.
- Hands-on experience building cloud-based data pipelines in AWS.
- Deep knowledge of data warehousing, data lake architecture, and sustainment.
- Strong understanding of data governance, security, privacy, and retention policies.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers is an asset.
- Proficient with agile software tools (Jira) and DevOps practices using GIT, Docker, and Jenkins.
- Strong knowledge of data modeling, data architecture, and data structures.
- Expert understanding of Agile and DevOps methodologies including CI/CD.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven ability to work independently and proactively.
- Experience with ETL optimization and tuning big data processes in Databricks.
- Knowledge of data lineage and quality techniques.
- Experience working with data science and machine learning models.
- Previous experience in energy or utility analytics.
