E Source is looking for an experienced Data Engineer III to join our machine-learning engineering team on a fully remote basis. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines, infrastructure, and systems that support both consulting services and software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team of machine-learning engineers, software engineers, data scientists, and data analysts to deliver impactful data products and solutions for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure data pipelines, infrastructure, and systems using AWS, Python, Databricks, Spark, and SQL databases such as PostgreSQL.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to translate business challenges into technical solutions. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior data engineers.
- Develop and implement data engineering strategies and best practices aligned with business goals and client requirements.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and ensure the quality, integrity, and availability of data pipelines and systems.
- Conduct research on industry trends, evaluating new data technologies and tools to enhance capabilities.
- Build and manage data lakes to support business intelligence needs.
- Oversee the software development lifecycle and DevOps aspects of code deployment.
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to provide optimal data solutions.
- Innovate data validation methods and analytical tools.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
- Minimum five years of data engineering experience.
- Expert in Python, SQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL), Databricks, and Spark.
- Hands-on experience building cloud-resident data pipelines in AWS.
- Strong understanding of data governance, security, privacy, and retention practices.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with agile tools like Jira and DevOps practices using GIT, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins.
- Passion for data innovation and problem-solving.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven ability to work independently and achieve results proactively.
- Experience with ETL optimization, coding, and tuning big data processes in Databricks.
- Knowledge of data lineage and quality management.
- Experience working with data science and machine-learning models.
- Background in the energy or utility industry is a plus.
- Master’s degree in MIS, Computer Programming, Software Engineering, Data Science, or equivalent STEM field.
