This short-term, remote role focuses on data cleaning, labeling, and organization, contributing directly to improving the detection of safety-relevant behaviors in AI systems, such as self-harm, manipulation, and emotional escalation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Label historical AI conversation data using internal tools and guidelines to identify safety-relevant behaviors
- Query, clean, and organize large datasets using basic SQL and Python for annotation and analysis
- Work within Jupyter notebooks to review data, ensure traceability, and collaborate with technical teams
- Partner with analysts, researchers, and engineers to refine labeling criteria and address edge cases
- Provide structured feedback on labeling workflows to enhance future annotation tools and processes
Ideal Candidate Qualities:
- Strong attention to detail and comfort with repetitive yet high-stakes tasks
- Organized and systematic in managing large datasets and following annotation guidelines
- Experience writing and interpreting basic SQL queries and using Python, including libraries like pandas and numpy; familiarity with Google Drive API is a plus
- Hands-on experience with Jupyter notebooks for data review and workflow execution
- Clear communication skills, initiative in identifying inconsistencies or issues
- Commitment to mental health, safety, and ethical technology principles
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and 1–2+ years of professional experience in data analytics, data science, AI data annotation, ethical tech, or related technical fields
- Basic proficiency with Python, SQL, and command-line tools
- Demonstrated interest in AI safety, mental health, and ethical technology
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Ability to rapidly switch contexts across domains and abuse areas
