The Content Strategist will play a critical role in managing and optimizing content workflows for Ciena’s technical documentation and digital content systems. The position involves leading large-scale content migration projects, overseeing structured content workflows, and integrating advanced AI and content management systems to improve efficiency and user experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading content migration initiatives, including transitioning from Adobe FrameMaker to Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and converting unstructured FrameMaker content to structured DITA workflows
- Overseeing structured content workflows using DITA standards, DITA Open Toolkit (DITA-OT), and DITAVAL conditional processing profiles
- Managing large-scale data ingestion into AI models and ensuring seamless integration with content systems
- Developing and maintaining structured content using Oxygen XML Editor, Markdown, XML, and HTML editors
- Implementing coding and scripting solutions to streamline workflows and improve content efficiency
- Establishing and maintaining metadata, taxonomy, and ontology best practices using tools like PoolParty
- Collaborating across multiple teams—including marketing, design, product, and leadership—to align content strategies with business objectives and user needs
Required skills and experience:
- Expertise in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and other CCMS systems
- Proven experience in content migration from FrameMaker to AEM and structured DITA workflows
- Advanced knowledge of DITA standards, DITA-OT, and DITAVAL conditional processing
- Proficiency in ASCII docs to DITA conversion and direct publishing from AEM
- Strong coding and scripting skills, including Markdown and XSLT
- Hands-on experience with Oxygen XML Editor, HTML/XML editors, and Linux environments
- Experience with Antenna House formatter, graphics conversion to SVG, and Apache FOP formatter
- Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and containerization tools (Kubernetes, Docker)
Preferred qualifications:
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and project management frameworks
- Experience integrating AI workflows for automated documentation
- Expertise in metadata, taxonomy, and ontology management
- Strong presentation and technical communication skills
- Strategic thinking to balance user needs with business goals
