Description:
Miaplaza, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Content Moderator to join its online learning team remotely. The company provides inclusive K–12 online learning platforms, including Miacademy, Always Icecream, Clever Dragons, MiaPrep, and MiaPrep Online High School. The moderator role is essential for maintaining a safe and engaging community for students while supporting their social and learning experiences.
The Content Moderator will review student posts at high volumes, interpreting and responding to content in a kid-friendly, professional manner. The ideal candidate thrives in situations where guidance and judgment are required, balancing efficiency with thoughtful coaching.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing student posts (~500 posts per hour) and maintaining a safe, positive online community
- Identifying nuanced or unclear posts and interpreting hidden messages
- Providing prompt, age-appropriate, and encouraging responses to student inquiries
- Empowering students with clear explanations for moderation decisions
- Making swift and accurate decisions to uphold community standards
- Collaborating with team members to refine policies and enhance the user experience
- Staying up-to-date with trends to meaningfully engage with students
- Documenting moderation activities accurately and continuously improving skills
Requirements and qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of work experience in any industry
- Strong proficiency with technology and ability to quickly learn new systems
- Access to a computer/laptop with reliable high-speed internet (camera preferred)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, manage schedules, and meet deadlines
- Experience in content moderation is a bonus but not required
- Positive, resilient, and student-focused mindset
Work schedule:
- Full-time moderators work four 8-hour shifts during the week and one 4-hour shift on weekends
- Rotational shifts include: 2nd shift (10:00 am – 6:00 pm ET) and 3rd shift (2:00 pm – 10:00 pm ET)
- Evening availability required for training and meetings; holidays worked on rotation
Compensation and benefits:
- Hourly pay range: $17.29 – $23.75
