Description:

Avalara is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Compensation Analyst to support the execution and administration of its global compensation programs. This role is an individual contributor position focused on providing data-driven insights that support fair, competitive, and consistent pay practices across the organization.

The selected candidate will work closely with People Partners and business leaders to evaluate compensation decisions, analyze market trends, and ensure alignment with internal frameworks and policies. The role reports directly to the Senior Director of Compensation and is fully remote within the United States.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support global compensation cycles including merit increases, bonus programs, and equity planning by validating data and ensuring accurate execution
• Provide compensation analysis and recommendations for job offers, promotions, and organizational changes within defined guidelines
• Conduct job evaluations using internal job architecture frameworks to support equity and market alignment
• Participate in compensation survey submissions and assist with benchmarking using external providers
• Maintain and administer compensation programs while supporting process improvements and documentation
• Analyze compensation data to identify trends and prepare detailed reports for stakeholders
• Monitor regulatory and legislative updates and escalate potential impacts when necessary
• Use AI and analytical tools to improve reporting accuracy, efficiency, and data-driven decision-making

Requirements:
• 4+ years of progressive compensation experience in a technology organization
• Strong knowledge of compensation principles, job evaluation, and market pricing practices
• Experience supporting compensation cycles and salary benchmarking activities
• Ability to work with large compensation datasets and reporting tools
• Experience partnering with HR teams and business stakeholders on compensation matters
• Advanced Excel skills with strong data analysis capability
• Experience using Workday or similar HR/HCM systems
• Familiarity with survey providers such as Mercer, Radford, or WTW
• Strong ability to interpret data and communicate insights clearly
• Knowledge of policy application and escalation processes for complex cases

Preferred Qualifications:
• Progress toward Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification
• Experience in high-growth or technology-driven companies
• Exposure to compensation program design or enhancement initiatives
