Description:

Akuity is seeking an experienced and highly engaged Open Source Community Manager to lead and grow its flagship communities around Argo CD and Kargo. The role focuses on building strong contributor ecosystems, driving community engagement, and strengthening collaboration within the global cloud-native and GitOps landscape.

Founded by the original creators of Argo CD, Akuity is deeply rooted in the open-source ecosystem and works closely with Kubernetes and CNCF communities. This position offers a unique opportunity to directly influence widely adopted open-source projects used by thousands of engineers worldwide.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about developer communities, experienced in open-source program management, and capable of turning users into active contributors while shaping global engagement strategies across technical ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Growth & Engagement
• Lead and execute community strategy for Argo CD and Kargo projects
• Build contributor onboarding paths, guides, and engagement programs
• Strengthen relationships across CNCF, GitHub communities, and developer ecosystems
• Collect, analyze, and act on community feedback in collaboration with engineering teams
• Manage communication channels including newsletters, release notes, and discussions

Events & Ecosystem Presence
• Plan and execute participation in major industry events such as KubeCon, ArgoCon, DevOps Days, and PlatformCon
• Manage CFP submissions, speaker preparation, and post-event engagement activities
• Organize contributor summits, webinars, meetups, and virtual community sessions
• Represent the company at developer conferences and community events
• Collaborate with marketing and product teams to maximize event impact

Community Operations
• Track community health metrics and drive measurable growth initiatives
• Develop ambassador and contributor programs
• Improve documentation, onboarding, and engagement workflows
• Ensure continuous feedback loops between users and engineering teams

Requirements:

• 5–8 years of experience in community management or developer relations in open-source or developer tools environments
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes, cloud-native technologies, and GitOps concepts
• Proven success in growing technical open-source communities
• Experience managing developer events, conferences, and community programs
• Strong written communication skills across GitHub, Slack, and technical documentation
• Data-driven mindset with ability to measure and optimize community growth
• Strong collaboration skills across engineering, marketing, and product teams

Nice to Have:

• Hands-on experience with Argo CD or Kargo
• Active participation in CNCF or related open-source ecosystems
• Speaking experience at KubeCon, ArgoCon, or similar events
• Experience building ambassador or champion programs
• Contribution to CNCF graduated or incubating projects
