Description:
TPx is seeking a Collections Specialist to manage past-due accounts through effective communication, dispute resolution, and service suspension actions. This role also supports projects aimed at improving account recovery and reducing aged receivables. The Collections Specialist works independently while collaborating with internal teams to ensure timely and professional handling of all accounts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review accounts promptly to identify past-due balances and determine appropriate collections actions
  • Follow department policies to establish standard payment arrangements for at-risk customers
  • Assign follow-up tasks based on past-due risk levels
  • Manage service suspensions and terminations for nonpayment
  • Monitor and manage accounts that fail to adhere to recorded payment arrangements
  • Contact customers via phone, email, or letter to offer payment assistance, communicate billing information, and respond to inquiries
  • Document customer interactions and follow-up activity in billing systems and collections tools
  • Process orders to restore services once payment is received, following system and product guidelines
  • Handle escalations such as credit requests, account changes, and notifications
  • Educate customers on timely invoice payments and maintaining cleared past-due balances
  • Notify internal teams of pending suspension activities when appropriate
  • Support Cash App processes as needed
  • Assist with bankruptcy processing and related documentation

Other Responsibilities:

  • Promote and educate customers on ACH and other specialized payment systems
  • Support general account updates to assist the Customer Care Department
  • Provide additional call support during outages or high call volume periods
  • Assist with projects related to customer accounts and internal systems
  • Participate in system testing for upgrades and new releases as requested
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • College coursework or degree in Business Administration, Banking, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in customer service, contact center, or banking environment
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of computer technology and cloud-based systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and other tools
  • Typing speed of 40 WPM or higher
  • Ability to multitask while managing multiple responsibilities effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills
  • Knowledge of best-in-class telephone etiquette and customer handling practices
  • Customer-focused with ability to build confidence and trust
  • Sound judgment with ability to determine when to escalate or seek assistance
