Description:
Skillable, a fully remote and innovative tech company, is seeking a Cloud Engineer to architect, deploy, and maintain platform infrastructure and cloud lab fabrics. This role focuses on building scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions while optimizing cloud performance and automating operational workflows. The position requires collaboration across teams, proactive problem-solving, and ensuring efficiency, availability, and security for Skillable’s SaaS platform and customer-facing cloud environments.
Responsibilities:
• Design resilient, high-availability, and disaster recovery solutions
• Drive cloud cost optimization for platform infrastructure and lab environments
• Collaborate with data and billing teams to ensure financial transparency and prevent fraud
• Implement security measures and defense-in-depth strategies for cloud resources
• Set up monitoring for availability, performance, and cost
• Automate routine tasks and develop infrastructure as code (IAC)
• Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure issues
• Communicate status, risks, and outages internally
• Represent the cloud team during incidents and provide guidance based on data analysis
• Support company values through positive interactions with internal and external stakeholders
• Participate in strategic business initiatives or cross-functional projects as needed
Qualifications:
• 5+ years supporting global SaaS applications and architecting solutions using Azure or similar platforms
• 2+ years of experience in SRE and DevOps practices
• Automation-first mindset; proficiency in scripting and infrastructure management
• Skilled in PowerShell, Bash, Python, Docker/Kubernetes, Git/Github, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)
• Experience creating infrastructure as code in greenfield and brownfield environments
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, especially for undocumented systems
• Ability to analyze platform usage and recommend improvements
• Excellent communication skills and experience mentoring team members
• Familiarity with SCRUM and Agile methodologies
