Description:
Thrivent is seeking a highly organized and professional Claim Coordinator to serve as the primary point of contact for new claims. This role involves guiding claimants, beneficiaries, family members, and advisors through the claims process from submission to decision communication. The ideal candidate is skilled in multitasking, possesses excellent communication abilities, and has prior experience with long-term care insurance or related claims.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by acting as a knowledgeable guide for claimants, beneficiaries, advisors, and third parties.
  • Handle difficult callers calmly using de-escalation techniques while navigating ambiguity effectively.
  • Apply critical thinking to solve problems and make independent decisions when necessary.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of claims, coordinating with Claimants, Family Members, Third Party Authorized Individuals, Beneficiaries, Providers, Financial Advisors, and Examiners to ensure timely and accurate processing.
  • Maintain clear, professional communication across multiple stakeholders including Thrivent Advisors, Funeral Homes, Churches/Charities, and external vendors.
  • Identify inconsistencies or potential process barriers and work with team members and management to improve the claims experience.
  • Stay current on claims processes and procedures, implementing updates in daily interactions.
  • Participate in additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in insurance or financial services.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to remain professional under stressful situations; demonstrate patience and empathy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization abilities with attention to detail.
  • Adaptability to a changing and dynamic work environment.

Preferred:

  • Post-secondary education or college degree.
  • Experience supporting clients’ families through challenging situations.
