We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Budget Analyst Assistant to support our finance team in budget preparation, monitoring, and reporting. This remote role involves assisting with financial data analysis, expense tracking, and ensuring compliance with budgetary guidelines. The ideal candidate will have strong Excel skills, a solid understanding of budgeting principles, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation, review, and monitoring of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Track and analyze departmental expenses, identifying variances and trends.
- Support the Budget Analyst in compiling financial reports and presentations.
- Maintain and update budget databases and spreadsheets with accuracy.
- Help reconcile financial data between accounting systems and budget reports.
- Collaborate with department heads to gather budget-related information.
- Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and financial regulations.
- Provide administrative support for budget-related meetings and documentation.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: 1+ years in budgeting, financial analysis, or a similar role (internship experience considered).
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).
- Familiarity with financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, Hyperion) is a plus.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
- Good communication skills for cross-department collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
- Experience with ERP systems or budgeting tools.
- Knowledge of GAAP or public sector budgeting (if applicable).
- Certification (e.g., CFA Level 1, FMVA) is a bonus.
