We’re Hiring – Billing Specialist I (Remote)

Hanger, Inc., a global leader in orthotic and prosthetic services and products, is seeking a detail-oriented Billing Specialist I to join our remote team. This role focuses on providing high-quality customer service to patients, employees, and referral sources while performing specialized administrative and billing tasks in compliance with regulations, including HIPAA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain and maintain accurate patient, billing, and insurance information, including verification and pre-authorizations
  • Review patient charts for completeness and compliance
  • Convert NextGen encounters and resolve claim edits
  • Submit paper and electronic claims accurately
  • Maintain knowledge of billing systems and payer specifications
  • Reconcile billing errors and resubmissions
  • Coordinate with payers to ensure accurate billing and maximize reimbursement
  • Report key statistics on sales, revenue, cash flow, and patient activity
  • Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year of experience in auditing or data analytics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a medical office environment
  • Familiarity with EMR systems such as NextGen and/or OnBase
  • Knowledge of DME/Orthotic products
