Description:
Vinson & Elkins is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Billing Coordinator to support its legal finance operations in New York. This role involves managing end-to-end billing activities for assigned attorneys and clients while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely invoicing.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing prebills, processing final invoices, maintaining billing records, and supporting attorneys with client billing requirements. This position requires strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and experience working in a structured billing or accounting environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review, edit, and process prebills for assigned attorneys and clients.
• Prepare and finalize invoices for client submission.
• Monitor billing rates and ensure compliance with client agreements.
• Generate and update daily, monthly, and quarterly billing reports.
• Perform reconciliations and make necessary billing adjustments.
• Respond to client inquiries regarding billing and invoicing.
• Maintain accurate billing profiles and documentation in line with firm policies.
• Support attorneys with special billing requirements and related tasks.
Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years of billing experience in a law firm or professional services environment.
• High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
• Experience with billing or accounting software such as Aderant or similar systems.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage time effectively and meet strict deadlines.
• Capability to handle confidential financial information.
• Strong knowledge of:
• Legal billing processes and invoice management
• Accounting and financial reconciliation
• Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Billing systems such as Aderant or similar ERP tools
