 Position Summary / Objective:

The Junior Billing Analyst will support the finance and billing team with day-to-day invoicing activities for government contracts. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual looking to gain experience in government billing processes, project accounting, and financial systems. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and capable of handling multiple priorities with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.

 Essential functions:

  • Assist in preparing and submitting accurate and timely invoices in accordance with government contract terms and billing schedules.
  • Maintain and update billing records, invoice logs, and supporting documentation.
  • Review labor and cost data for completeness and accuracy prior to invoice generation.
  • Support project setup in the accounting system (Costpoint), including SLIN/CLIN assignment and billing detail population.
  • Communicate with internal teams (project managers, contracts, and accounting) to gather necessary billing data and resolve discrepancies.
  • Track unbilled amounts and assist in clearing backlog through regular status updates and coordination with Finance.
  • Reconcile invoice submissions with contract terms and approved funding levels.
  • Submit invoices through third-party systems (e.g., WAWF, eCRAFT) as needed.
  • Assist in monitoring accounts receivable aging reports and supporting collections efforts.
  • Help ensure compliance with FAR/DFARS and internal financial policies.
  • Support audits and financial reporting by providing backup documentation and responding to data requests.
  • Interface with internal and external clients regarding billing inquiries.

 Required education and experience:

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1–2 years of experience in a finance, billing, or accounting support role (internships or entry-level experience acceptable).

 Preferred education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1–2 years of experience in a finance, billing, or accounting support role (internships or entry-level experience acceptable).

 Competencies:

  • Basic understanding of government contracting or willingness to learn federal billing regulations.
  • Familiarity with or interest in learning Deltek Costpoint, WAWF, eCRAFT, or similar systems.
  • Strong Excel skills (V-Lookup/Pivot Table functions, etc.).
  • Ability to handle large datasets.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with managing multiple deliverables efficiently with strict attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Ability to be a team player, work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, and adapt to changing requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

 Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

The typical workday is eight hours in length. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, with concurrence from the supervisor. Attendance at prescheduled mandatory meetings is required. Must be available during the core work hours as determined by your contract/location and must account for the required number of hours in a pay period to maintain Full-time status.
