Description:
Corcentric is hiring a detail-focused Bill Pay Specialist to join our Payments Operations team. This remote role supports accurate, timely bill payments and excellent customer interactions while helping maintain clean records across internal systems. You’ll work with payment portals, CRM tools, and client AP teams to investigate and resolve payment issues and ensure smooth payment workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute payments via online portals and IVR systems and handle payment processing tasks end-to-end.
  • Manage inbound and outbound calls using a soft-phone application; deliver strong customer service and build rapport with payer contacts.
  • Use CRM tools to organize daily workload, document actions, and maintain accurate case notes.
  • Research payment contact information across websites and search engines to support collection and payment routing.
  • Retrieve, validate, and analyze payment and invoice data from CRM and payment platforms.
  • Review and manipulate Excel data to support bill payment tasks and reconciliations.
  • Troubleshoot declined payments, identify root causes, and escalate technical issues by submitting product/development tickets.
  • Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies and follow established call-handling procedures and etiquette.
  • Communicate with client Accounts Payable teams via templated emails and manage the team email queue with proper case workflow.
  • Update CRM with outcomes and next steps; close cases accurately when resolved.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Comfortable processing payments in multiple systems and working in a high-volume operational environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and good phone etiquette.
  • Proficiency with CRM tools, web research, and intermediate Excel skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot payment failures and work collaboratively with technical teams.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of documenting processes and outcomes clearly.

Work Setting & Notes:

  • Remote role with expectation to be near one of the hiring markets (Des Moines, Omaha, Cedar Rapids) for occasional in-person training and team events.
  • Reports to the Manager, Payments Operations.
