Description:
Hanger, Inc., a global leader in orthotic and prosthetic services, is seeking a Benefits & Authorization Specialist II to join our team. This role involves reviewing patient information to verify active insurance coverage, contacting health insurers to confirm eligibility, and maintaining accurate documentation for authorizations and peer-to-peer communications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and embody the values of Hanger, Inc.
  • Review patient documentation to ensure compliance with payer requirements and medical policies.
  • Communicate with clinic staff and insurance companies to obtain necessary documentation and verify patient benefits.
  • Submit authorization requests and follow up with payers as required.
  • Ensure accurate authorizations with correct codes, quantities, and authorization date ranges.
  • Update patient charts with appropriate notes and documentation.
  • Contact patients for updated insurance information.
  • Handle authorization denials by consulting with clinics to determine if an appeal is appropriate, then submit and follow up on appeals as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience in insurance verification and/or benefits.
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record meeting Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety standards.
